PROS
very cost effective LCD shield. works with Arduino LiquidCrystal Library once pin assignments modified. Potentiometer to adjust backlight level.
CONS
Did not work with default Arduino LiquidCrystal Library, pin assignments need to be changed first. Slight scratch on LCD even though it was sealed with a protective plastic. not noticeable when lit.
I hooked this up to a Arduino Mega 2560 R3 also from fasttech and it works just fine. Took a bit of tinkering before I decided to read the reviews and see one indicating how to get it working properly.

Thanks to CityLights for his review indicating what needs to be changed :

LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7);

OR use

#define LCD_RS 8
#define LCD_EN 9
#define LCD_D4 4
#define LCD_D5 5
#define LCD_D6 6
#define LCD_D7 7
#define LCD_BACKLIGHT 10

LiquidCrystal lcd(LCD_RS, LCD_EN, LCD_D4, LCD_D5, LCD_D6, LCD_D7);

PROS
Great price! Quality board, well made Brings new life to your Arduino projects Great for beginners to Arduino
CONS
not many
If you don't have a LCD yet and are new to Arduino, get this shield! I have it on the Arduino Mega sold here at FastTech, which is also a great board! The pair made getting into Arduino really Affordable!
There was a small problem with the board I received, there's a small eye-lash or brush bristle behind the LCD layer, visible at column 16 row 1. I highly doubt other boards will have same blemish but it shows Quality Control is low for the LCD component or the screens used are B grades to keep the price so low. The rest of the board is excellent quality and functions great! I had the screen up and running in no time. Be sure to align the board pins carefully to where they plug into the Arduino, skip pin1, skip IOref and align Reset with Reset.

You can get the board up and running with most sketches by changing the pin setting line to..

LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7);

OR use

#define LCD_RS 8
#define LCD_EN 9
#define LCD_D4 4
#define LCD_D5 5
#define LCD_D6 6
#define LCD_D7 7
#define LCD_BACKLIGHT 10

LiquidCrystal lcd(LCD_RS, LCD_EN, LCD_D4, LCD_D5, LCD_D6, LCD_D7);
