Product Request 21700 SMPL
in the last months, we saw again and again how users still love their old style 18650 SMPL mods.
We are very lucky, that we have since 9/10/2019 the very similar SP 18650 mod SKU 9709146.
Thanks to FT, to offer this construction again.
When we improve the construction from 18650 to 21700, this would be the perfect step.
It should not be a problem and cheap for a CNC machine, to make everything a bit bigger (21 - 18 = 3mm)
And I imagine, this 21700 SMPL would sell very good.
I would buy 5.

Edit: and in SS the 21700 SMPL/SP would be in OD and length smaller and also lighter,
than the discontinued Vindicator SKU 9695216.
Vindicator: 91 L - 70 Bat. = 21mm for deck and switch.
SMPL 18650: 79 L - 65 Bat. = 14mm for deck and switch.
SMPL/SP 21700 would be: 70 Bat. + 14mm deck and switch = 84 mm (Vindicator 91mm)
OD SS SMPL/SP 21700 would be 21 Bat.+ 4 Tube = 25mm (Vindicator 26mm).
Result: a very powerful and still very small 84 x 25 mm beast,
estimated weight should be around 105g, Vindicator 135 - 140g, SP 18650 81g.

While I'm not really intrested in an SP 21700 (probably would buy that too if the price is right :D), brass/copper version would be lovely too for the SP 18650. One can dream right?

There's a whole world of 21700 tubes out there, at affordable prices. A SMPL with a bigger outline would still have the same problems, No threading,in order to keep the "low profile" switch, which results in horrendous voltage loss. A bit of clever thinking could make it possible, but then the question is, why?

Nostalgia doesn't make for the best modern companion.

With changes, yes. But just the same mod holding a bigger cell and 24mm atties? Nope.

There are other vendors with loads of 21700 tubes, modeled after popular mech brands...but they aren't sold here anymore.

I hope you get what you want, Troep. But only so I can listen to all the bitching when it releases for 19.99 with sub-par performance, lol.
What does he mean when he says words?

All those were already done... years ago.

lol, went to see if in the cave they were still selling those, they kept the old photos about the 4 tubes/3 metals but all are selling the same versions that FT stocks.

The problem I had with the SMPL was the very soft, short throw switch. There was no way I'd would ever pocket one as the slightest pressure would make the damn thing fire. What it needed IMO was a longer threaded switch to reduce the chronic voltage drop and an AV Able Style locking ring to make it pocket safe. Of course this would add length weight and get people moaning.

Another problem is that it makes a useless home use mod because of the poor performance - as weight shouldn't be much of an issue if you don't use a mod as a daily carry any 21700 Purge or Comp Lyfe clone would completely outclass a 21700 version SMPL.

If you want a simple construction 212700 mod (that also isn't pocket safe) have a look at the Bestia. There aren't any on here at the moment but they are easy to find and only $15.

FT doesn't manufacturer the products they sell - you do realise you're asking them to stock something that doesn't exist?.

Crispycritters, I had a bunch of SMPLs, bought from several places. The quality of the switches were differing (smoother - stickier/ stronger spring - weaker spring etc.) I also used these switches in several other mods.

But there was only one similar to what you've just described above & quasi useless.

I think you just weren't lucky.

I'd guess they just didn't leave enough length on the threaded end. A half mm makes a huge difference.

C4, I am not fixed to a "bit bigger" SMPL,
but the change in manufacturing would be very cheap.
Perhaps an other under 25$ 21700 mech mod tube would be better, tell us the name please.
And tell us please, how you would improve the SMPL construction.
Because the cheap 17$ Vindicator is now discontinued,
we can ask FT for a good under 25$ replacement.
I am open for every good 21700 tube mech mod solution.

YES the Bestia is side fire.

The Purge and Comp Lyfe clones are generally $30 and over, but they are better performing mechs and worth paying the extra for, but Purge 21700 mods can be 300 grams - not a problem for home use, but you wouldn't want to carfry one in your pocket.
