Mod electronics question
Can anybody tell me what the pin that makes contact when the battery door closes actually does?
I thought all mods with those type of battery doors would have it until i noticed today that my movkin doesn't have one.

I always thought it was just a safety switch but imo it should do more than that because when you open the battery door even without it, you break the circuit since the contact on the door don't make contact with the batteries anymore.
I believe it is used to measure the battery level or to power the board. But i can be very wrong here.

Yep, probably used to get battery readings for individual cells, and if you’re lucky, for balance charging the cells.

I believe it has something to do with balance-charging the batteries...

EDIT: Nezzy beat me to it... :)

- Take a sticker or something and put it over that contact on the door so that it cannot make contact with the spring contact on the mod.

- Put batteries in, close the door.

- At that point, report back to tell us what you found out.
Vaper buys pod system, asks for a 510 adapter. LOL for days

I'm not sure about lately but Yihi used to have a second circuit board almost the size of a regular chip set for ecigs just to handle the balanced charging and battery monitoring. SX350J era mods.
That's what the pin is connected to or at least similar integrated into the chip set.

I may have been the first to incorporate this type of pin but that was for dual parallel mod carrying the - pole of the battery to the SX350 v2.
I likely have a better picture somewhere but the hole between the battery holes is for such a pin.

Oh damn it, wrong end of the mod but I'm sure you get the idea.

Unfortunately, up until the Q-Mini and the G-Class, balanced charging on Yihi's SX boards was atrocious. It just wasn't balanced at all, despite the claims in their specs.

It's twelve inches long, but don't use it as a rule...

And their TC still needs work from what I've gathered. I tossed my hands up with Yihi about the SX350J. I don't like flutterbies in my TC!
