I was a heavy smoker for 45 years. My doctor warned me that a pension scheme would not be a good investment for me. I first tried giving up smoking in the 70's with a green liquid that made smoking taste awful. I remember having to smoke with my face over the toilet bowl. Allergic to the adhesive in patches, the blisters would still be apparent 2 months later. Champix - successful until I was stood at the edge of a railway platform ready to throw myself under a train.
Ordered ecig stuff 8 years ago from my sick bed full of antibiotics with yet another serious chest infection. By the time my chest infection had cleared up I was a non-smoker!

COPD - Take Leonard Limoy. Quit smoking in his 50s. I believe he was diagnosed with COPD then?! Died of it in his 80s. Still a good life.

Had 2 lung function tests. Specialists were surprised how healthy my lungs are. Other issues but not my lungs, apparently. So far.
The only time I notice some loss are up against athletes and/or if I run up very steep hills/stairs. Will be a bit out of breath then.
But I wasn't ever a runner, even before smoking.

Don't know if I would have quit without vaping for I wasn't aware that I felt terrible.
It was only in hindsight I felt the differences.

Yup....was sitting in the fourth row for the Hendrix concert in 68 ( Montreal), a month before saw the first Canadian show of the Who, with the Troggs, and Cream a few weeks later, with Soft Machine...tickest were 2,50$ , 3,50 at the door.
Cigarettes were 40 cents a pack, gasoline was still in gallons, and a gram of hash would get you two years in jail. I guess I'm old.

I'm more the stale remnants of an old fart that used to sour the smell of the couch cushion, but yes, I qualify as the subject of paleoanthropology these days. Parts of my brain, obviously, are still convinced they're about 28 and always will be, but they're having more and more difficulty every day dealing with the grampa in the mirror.

Perfect example that wisdom comes with age.

We can't agree on everything.

50 years on analogs... Then one day a Blu.... 7+ years later and not one more analog since that day. I am always pleased when this subject comes up because it gives me a chance to pat myself on the back and congratulate the rest of you. We all know that we're, at least, a little better off than if we would have continued on the stinkys.

And yeah Marc you hit the head of the nail.....

like the rug in The Big Lebowsky, that ties his room together...😎

I hope you didn't have to remain seated!!!!!

In '67 I was fortunate to have a friend that ran spots and gels for Single Wing Turquoise Bird light show at Winterland in SF and The Shrine Auditorium in LA. So caught most of the early tours of The Who, Pink Floyd, Jimi, Cream as well as the SF bands. Also caught the Doors at the Whiskey and other venues in California. I lived in the same canyon as Crazy Horse so listened in on practice sessions almost daily....It was the best mis-spent youth I ever had.

I'm out.....have some fun. Eh?

Don't worry.
You'll also get there in due time, sonny.
