The European Union (EU) is making important changes to its value-added tax (VAT) rules, which come into effect on July 1, 2021.

What’s changing?

The VAT exemption currently in place for goods imported into the EU with a value up to €22 will be removed, meaning these shipments will now be subject to VAT.

These changes will lead to simpler procedures and reduced administration, as well as possible broader implications for how merchants conduct business in the EU.

The EU is also launching an Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) platform to simplify the declaration and the payment of VAT for B2C imports up to a value of €150.

What are the advantages of tax prepaid?

We will have our Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) identification number applied in your order. The logistics company provides this number to customs in the destination country, at the point of customs declaration. It will indicate to customs that VAT is being properly declared and help ensure speedy customs clearance. And you don't have to pay any handling fee for items sent using IOSS. As a result, all goods imported into the EU will be subject to VAT. The new rules will apply to all goods delivered from outside the European Union after July 1st, even if the transaction occurred online before then.

Due to the uncertain handling of the customs, there are a couple of possibilities for the packages that are still in transit:

• These shipments are likely to be subject to slightly longer processing times.

• You will be liable for additional taxes relative to the value of the goods being sent.

• Packages may be returned. (We will watch closely and contact the customers once we received the return info of the packages.)
