I want to thank Geek for returning. I appreciated his involvement in FT and the Forum previously and look forward to his influence at the "new" FT.

Why not off topic political threads, you dont have to join them.
Sometimes these US threads about Trump showed the political US indecision about voting the right man.
Usefull informations.

It seems, social relations slow down. Some people ask here, get a good answer,
and cannot say "thanks" or reply to the forum.
Its a selfish behavior, seems 2014 was better, more common sense.
Seems there are people, which suck out informations,
and do not contribute to the community.

Maybe you could ban ALL threads and indeed posts that have a political slant, It is the cause of much of the problems in the forum.

In my humble opinion they have no place on what is primarily a commercial forum, That goes for whichever side of the political divide you are on.

Hi Richy7 and other friends,

We value the free environment everyone has enjoyed and we understand the concern brought up in this thread. However, the main difficulty for us is policing and/or judging whether a message is "political" or whether it's acceptable or not.

We would appreciate everyone to try to remain civil and tone down critical views if possible, so that the situation will not become difficult for all participants, including us.

And Troepfler, thank you for your suggestion. As a middle ground, for now, I'll try to start moving heated political discussions to the off topics section.

Thanks for your understanding.

Ok ... Geek, I have one last question, for now....

Were you helping with some forum coding or just a moderator, back then? It seemed you had alot of power addressing website issues rather than people, if I remember correctly...

If so, I have 2 requests, it can wait till next year.
Knock knock, let the devil in. Malevolent as I've ever been, head is spinnin'. This medicine's screamin', "L-l-l-let us in!"

Annie, the solution is perhaps very simple,
when we work with lines (chapters/sections):

Last FT news
Red line
Sticky
Black line
Politics
Black line
E.g. Corona
Black line
Problem threads, which may be closed within the next 7 days
Black line
Forum rules
Black line
The normal threads

Its not a big deal for a software specialist,
to add a scroll function into each chapter/section.

And this is easy to manage:
When a political thread moves to be a problem,
you just move it to "Problem Threads".
And if the people dont understand,
then the thread is closed within 7 days.

To point it is a bit of work to create. There is also a mobile version of the website, which needs work(and I use it), that adds to the pile of new coding.

But the general idea isn't bad.

The work style in China can be very different from what customers expect so I was active in the forums back then. I didn't moderate but I tried to be of help in whatever ways I can. I intend to continue to do so.

In terms of the website, yes in fact I did lot of the FastTech code. Please let me know what change you're looking for.

Are we talking about something akin to Reddit flairs? If so, we'll try to make this happen.

Sorry, I do not use Reddit and other social medias.
My idea started, when I saw your Sticky, Sticky, Sticky headlines.
There should be a black line, to see, this is the Sticky section.

Skeeeets, thank you for voting.
A mobile 10 inch tablet can show the website without an App.
And most of the Smartphones can connect via USB or Bluetooth,
to tablets or Windows computers.
And with a 5 inch Smartphone:
use the drop down menu, select, and scroll.
The App view is not very much different compared to the website view.
I dont see any problems to change FT vapers website to a more user friendly website.
But the FT website is huge, there are 13 categories which must match. Depends on the chinese programmers, how clean and versatile their construction is.
But we have specialists in this forum, who know more.

Hi geek,
I was thinking about what Skeeeets wrote.
There is a much more simple solution.
It would be a very big help,
if Annie could mark threads with colors:
green = OK
yellow = watch
red = dangerous
purple = perhaps closing within 7 days
Thunderstorm = only 3 days left
