Metallic Taste
Hi all,

I ordered 2 YFTK styled prime tanks and disassembled both and cleaned them 2 times in boiling water and after that one time with soap and as last step they had a bath in Wodka. I still have a strong metallic taste. I can taste this already by drawing on the base only.

Other strange thing was I had a green covering on the table after the alcohol bath which seems strange for stainless steel?

I stopped using them now as I don't know if the materials used are really save. if there was machine oil left this should have been gone after cleaning them up several times completely disassembled...

Anybody alse has this kind of issues or any idea?

Thanks

No problems here either.

I've ordered the extension kit for it too, it landed in @Heathrow 2 hours ago

Mine had a slight taste after cleaning, but it went away after half a tank.

So same procedure again today: cleaned with boiled water, after that again with soap and a toothbrush and a cotton swap. As exicting final I used a lighter to burn the shit away followed by a water bath with a toothbrush massage again..

put everything together and finaly its still tasting metallic ... Unfortunately this 2 tanks will go to trash, I will try a SXK. A real shame for the money and time I spent on this clone and not to forget the waste of Wodka...

I have not purchased this atomizer but have had the same problem in the past with 1 or 2. No matter what i did, I could taste metal.

I believe that some of us are just far more sensitive to it than most other vapers.

***Should add that i had the other taste one gets if machine oil is present on one atomizer in particular. Cleaned it 5x with everything at hand and could not get rid of it until i took the actual o-Rings off and soaked them separately. Earlier attempts i had left them on. Guess that time it was on the o-ring itself rather than the other atomizer parts. If you haven't soaked them seperately, Id give it one more shot trying that.

If it's a problem, soak it in some vinegar after you wash it (15-20 minutes), just the metal parts, and rinse well. I just use dishwashing liquid when washing, and a toothbrush and pipe cleaners. Vinegar will put back some shine to it.

Put the o-rings in a small dish with some VG before assembling.

It's a great atomizer this one.

are you using stainless for a coil ?, if so try kanthal, or a reverse of what you are using, i thought i was getting a slight metallic taste when using stainless, so stick with kanthal now, worth a try before binning the tank

I was thinking the same as gmm11 because after a good cleaning, it could be the wire used for coils?
So poor that I'm using paperclips for coils, strips of cotton jeans for wicks and coupons: MAP, BLF, DEALS & Event Discounts! But, I'm feeling much better now! LOL + No one should have 0 Kudos

I've always found that after a clean, any atomizer is brighter in flavour until it gets coated in eliquid.
