Are these coil rods made out of actual ceramic?
They look like some kind of metal.

Yes they are ceramic, these are made from an extremely hard and fine grained material and fired under high pressure. They are brittle though, strong too.

So there isn't any metal support on the inside? I'm very bad with these tools and broke very often the ceramic tweezers...
