Light Turns Off?
I'm using an UltraFire 18650 charger for this, and I noted that the battery charging light is still blinking red, indicating that it's still charging. However, the battery has been on it for a few hours. When charging is finished, the light should turn green. Is this because the battery is unprotected, or is something wrong?

And yes, I verified the charger is working properly with some button top protected 18650s.

Most likely the crap charger putting out next to nothing to charge.
My opinions are my own. If you disagree with them please take a big healthy crap in your hands and give yourself a round of applause.

It says output is 4.2 volts at 450 mA. If the charger is the problem, then why would it charge my protected button top 18650s fine? I'm confused.

Should I put the 30Q back in and wait for the light to turn green, or what? It's been about 5 hours and the battery just came out of the package (it's a new battery).

The charging light just turned green, indicating a full charge.

JNieporte, new 30Q's really have advertized capacity about 3000mAh
Measured after 5 complete cycles at my Lii-500 (average values)
Charge time 0.5A - 5 hrs 50 min
Charge time 1.0A - 3 hrs 10 min
with that capacity it takes time...

Thank you for the information Dino. I knew it would take a few hours, but my concern was whether the charging light would turn green on full charge or not. This is my first unprotected battery, so I wasn't sure. The light turned green after about six hours, so I'm satisfied.

I highly recommend getting a better charger if possible. Many cheap chargers do not actually stop charging completely, but deliver a small "trickle" charge continually. Not a good thing for an unprotected cell.

Or maybe get a multi-meter to check if your charger over-charges your cells.

I just need one more flashlight. Just one. Honestly. :D

I'm getting a good one from a friend. Until then (a few days) is it okay to use the USB charger built in to the mod?

(iStick Pico Mega, 30-35 watts, 0.5 or 0.3 Ohm resistance.)

JNieporte, for a single battery mod, normally yes.
