Dear Hybrid
I have the same mod, firmware and wire as you. I personally have approached this problem from another direction. I choose to use the default SS mode, keep the resistance unlocked, and keep a close eye on my baseline ohms*. I am curious of anything that triggers a "old coil/new coil" event and keep my TC watts and set temp as low as possible to avoid prematurely blackening my coil and cotton. I have discovered that baseline ohms can vary on a fixed build, which I consider a good thing, and see how that subsequently affects the vape quality (if at all).
Recently, I've been running the Github custom firmware using the "sweet" algorithm, but went back to the default algorithm when I started using twisted pair UD 30 SS316L wire.
In short, everyday is a learning experience with TC on the Evic mini.
I conceed that different TCR values can give "better" vaping experiences, but until I've exhausted all the variables involved with wicking, coil builds, air flow etc. etc. I'm happy to leave TCR values alone.
(with apologies to Douglas Adams) "The TCR for life, the universe, and everything is 42. The problem is we don't really know what the question is."
*"baseline ohms" I define as the measured resistance of the coil after a long period of inactivity eg first thing in the morning
After I took the RDA out of the evic and let it cold the read changed from 0.76 to 0.83 and now it stays in 0.83. After that it stoped asking New/Old Coil.
Man, all you said seem a bit confusing to me. Haha, sorry! But hey, isn't it better to always lock your resistence? Or if i don't lock it the TC will always adapt itself to avoit dry burn? To me sincere, I wanted to use TC in a simple way, like, make a coil, set the temperature and use it. I was in a Vape forum that the UD SS316L have a different TCR from others SS316L. That's where I got the 101 TCR. I noticed that with 101 TCR the TC protection activated less frequently compared to the 92 from DJLsb Vapes.
Whay I lack knowledge is how do i feel that 220C is 220C in the vape, of if 420F is a cool or medium vape. Can't define that now, since I am new to TC.
