- It doesn't rust like Kanthal and it can be used in normal regulated wattage mods.
- It can also be used for temperature control without needing ultra low resistance (and high currents from your mod) unlike Ni200.
- It does not scare some people as much as "toxic" nickel does.
...off the top of my head.

Resistance is almost exactly half of Kanthal. http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp is good for figuring things like this.
V = dU/dq | I = dq/dt | P = dU/dt = V·I | V = I·R

Hm thats cool thanks guys!
I have .2 and .4 mm Kanthal, and ordered .32mm ni200 now for my new Cloupor GT with Smok TFV4.
But even my GT goes down to 0.1ohm, i dont like this extrem low resistance builds, so i think ill try stainless wire.
I love good stainless steel everywhere. ;-)
Its hard, its clean and looks good.

But can every Box reads SS wire? The best boxes on market now, are possible to fire Ni Ti and Kanthal with TC. But i never heared from stainless settings in any mod.
Does anybody has experiences?

Thanks

SS has very low temperature coefficient. That means that you can't do TC with mods that are calibrated for nickel or titanium.

For example, if you set a nickel calibrated mod to 200F° and use SS wire, then the temperature protection will activate at 620*200/105 = 1180F°.

If you set a titanium calibrated mod to 200F° and use SS wire, then the temperature protection will activate at 350*200/105 = 610F°.

Toxic nickel.
SS is not better. SS is a alloy consists of chromium, nickel n some molybdenum.

316L stainless ist absolutely nickel-free, as far as i know.
Its true, there are types of steel, containing nickel, but not in 316L.

@joergelachora, so its necessary to have an Kanthal-TC Box?
Or do i need an TC mod with adjustable coefficent?

Great info, so I guess you could use it on a titanium calibrated mod at 200F as a safety barrier. You would need to still use wattage/joules as you normally would without TC but in theory the wire shouldn't get hotter than 610F which should be safe as far as wire breakdown anyway?
