Apparently some people here say the reason to not buy these phones is because they have a bunch of backdoors on them that "phone home" to the Chinese manufacturers and send them info on your activities. I can't find the thread, but it's a long one.

I would imagine since LG & Samsung & others have the same issue only more cleverly disguised.....there's not much that's totally private anymore/Google collects information/at&t was just not too long ago caught spying on emails....I have had success w/the cheaper Chinese phones/just delete all the Chinese app as best you can & add CM security free Android app...Would you pay $400 more just to feel reassured when it may still be leaky??lol

Oh, I hear ya. I've just kinda been eyeing up the phones myself lately an didn't know if I should take the plunge. Don;t seem to be many androids that have reviews or a lot of discussion so it's really hard to tell if they are junk or not. It's not like e-cigarettes, lots of reviews and discussions on e-cigs that one can make an informed purchase. Not so much with phones.

I found your post very interesting.
