MOSFET? I don't think so..

one positive from the battery goes to the left side of the chip.. the other positive from the battery goes to the right side of the chip.. the center terminal goes to the switch, and then to the center terminal of the 510.. ground goes from the batteries to the body of the 510. no ground connection to the chip.

no MOSFET wires that way, so what is it?

Might be a reverse polarity chip so you don't blow yourself up putting the batteries in the wrong way
Vapin stoopid is just natural selection in progress. Remember no matter where you go there you are.

Looks likely to be a dual diode pack to save blowing your arm off the moment you insert the batteries incorrectly :)

Gonna be some mahoosive drop across those diodes though.

Dunno. China. Who knows.

polarity protection.. yep, that makes sense. i've owned one for a few months now, and just now noticed the wiring.

yeah, there's about a 0.8 volt drop on the center pin, and another 0.2 volt drop by the time it gets to the 510. and a cute little pulse every time the LED fires :\

time for a rebuild.

thanks for the info!

Yeah, I'd expect ~0.7v drop across a silicon diode junction, so that confirms it.

So, you buy a dual-parallel box to run your quad-hendrix-ufo-baconfoot-herpderp build at 0.1 ohms, 40amps, 4 volts on load, 160 watts. Nice.

But with this turd you get 3.3 volts and 110 watts. 30 percent power loss because of the diodes. Awesome.

Wow. What. A. Shitty. Design.

i removed the diode pack and led.. now there's a 0.1 volt drop at the 510.. i can live with that....... for now.
