Well, there was a huge demand for 'Kanthal' with FT customers. FT obviously sourced the least expensive 'Kanthal' they could find!

Is this supposed to be similar to Gplat, royal, and hotwires?

i will be waiting for the 2.5 ohm, but definitely get them, too...

or the 4 ohm for the dual coil stuff...

have sweat bullets and ordered new coils for the protank 2 already.

Hi guys, I ordered the 1,8 Ohm NiChrome and I'm using it and I don't feel all that bad smell mentioned around.
Despite other setups with Kanthal 32 AWG I use since months these coils are quickly warming up, and the overall performance is better imho.
I just ordered a pack of 100 1,5 Ohms as it would perform even better than 1,8 Ohms.
personally my only worry is to avoid to do tenths of welding junctions experimenting different resistances.
These wires are ready to go, they cost NOTHING...this is the key :)

you can like them, and it might be partially due to my bad "coil hardware" (old stuff, silicone etc)...

but there is a distinctive taste difference between the "regular" r-wire here and those NR-R-NR things...

i like the R-wire-taste definitely better.

That "bad taste" from the nr-r-nr wires sold here is 99% of the time from using more power on them than they can handle. They heat up and cool down VERY FAST compared to most other wire, not to mention built properly, all the heat is produced in a smaller area. If you get a bad, burnt, or dry hit taste from them try a larger diameter wrap with more wick, or twist them together and/or make a candy cane/parallel coil to spread out the heat more and the problem should go away ;-) I simply CAN NOT get kanthal wire to produce as much vapor and flavor as these pre-made wires when built correctly, and this is specifically because nichrome based wire has less resistance per length, giving you more surface area to transfer heat to the wick with versus kanthal.

@ johnny_469

Thanks for that post, I've just aswered to you in another thread kind of harsh, but this is some good information !

I've been tying to make microcoils out of nicrome, aparently there is no need for that !
Using "regulation" as poorly disguised prohibition is criminal. Vaping is not smoking, reduces harm and saves lives.

I use these and make great microcoils, twisted microcoils, and parallel/candy cane microcoils. It really depends on the power I want and the atty used. They work great, though the welding and strength compared to straight up R wire can be a bit fiddly and frustrating :-( Take extra care if twisting or using parallel/candy cane as the NR leads like to snap off sometimes ;-)
