Snorkelwhacker, since you were using a different wire, please consider that the reported harsh flavor is not due to a bad built, as different wires behave differently.
For example, I've been using similar NR-R-NR wires SKU 1521300 – which are so great, but I also tried SKU 1521200 – which were too hot as microcoils.

fuadali9, the black color is due to deliberate oxidation, which is meant to prevent shorts ("hot spots") when set over a stainless-steel mesh wick ("Genisis").

which were too hot as microcoils.

Build problem. If they're too hot as microcoils then don't build microcoils.

There's nothing wrong with this wire.

Build problem really? How come using wire from elsewhere doesn't cause this? No build problem here for sure.

If I take the .16 NiChrome from the spindle I have no problems.
Now with that one I had.
Some comment that they have problems with cotton and not with silicat.
Others have problems with PG and not with the VG.
Maybe alergic reactions or just a different reception.
Now as I'm aware of this because I experianced it in a similar way I will not use em anymore.
For al of you that these work fine, lucky you.
I'm not saying that you should not use em, I won't use em.

Enjoy your vape the way you do and leave all the others do the same.

I found my way to enjoy it, believe me.

Does the bad taste phenomena only effect these 2.0ohm wires or all the pre-welded NR-R-NR black coated wires the same? I hope to find some reliable 2.0ohm wires that don't taste harsh or give off bodgey fumes as 2.0 is perfect for me, reading this puts me off these!

IDK what everyone is talking about here... I get way better flavor off of these than the 30awg kanthal I use otherwise. The black is because the wires have oxidized from welding them to the nr wires btw. If you're having trouble with the wires getting too hot for your build, try twisting 2 or more together, or even just twist the leads only together. I get some great suboHm builds out of using 2,3,or even 4 of these wires at a time per coil.

Aitchey, I use all of them offered here. My current .5oHm dual coil build uses 4 of SKU 1680305 at once. If they made them in kanthal, I would use them too, and even prefer it.

It probably has to do with the amps. Just ask marksjazz, he knows everything about that stuff. Maybe you should switch to watts or something. This thread should tell you everything you need to know.

Thanks Pickles I haven't actually tried them yet due to this post deterring me, you might be right though it could be too much current causing the issue. Thanks Johnny_469 all sounds good to me, appreciate your replies, I will try them. cheers all
