.. you should've tried soaking them overnight in a mixture of 1 part water / 3 parts vodka and your wicks will have a new lease of life .. hot water doesn't cut it really .. you'll get another few weeks out of them .. try it ;o) ..

probably isopropylacohol (cheap, from the pharmacy) can be used as well ?

can you reuse the wires, too ?

.. just gently pulse burn it til it glows ( but don't go mad and really burn it up ), it'll burn any gunk and vodka off the wire that way .. and it'll be OK til they need totally swapping out. If you disassemble it completely, you might find reassembly impossible as the wires would be very short to manipulate back into place ( it's possible, I've done it, but it's a major PITA ) .. :o)

im in asia... and you ?

what would make such a thourough clean (after isopropylalcohol) necessary, compared to vodka, which is just too expensive...

is it
-- that they burn to fast
-- dont burn
-- taste weird
-- poisonous...
-- ?

UK here .. I don't think it's OK for drinking/eating .. it is considered a poison if taken in large amounts, so you'd have to clean and rinse things very well indeed .. ;o) ..

http://www.isopropylalcoholmsds.net/electronic-cigarette-atomizer-cleaning-with-isopropyl-alcohol/

.. should be good if you follow that correctly ..

I would be a bit wary of using an alcohol like Vodka as some brands add stuff to it and there is sugars which could gunk up the place a bit when they caramelise if you don't get it all off :(

The advantage of Isopropyl or its cousin surgical spirit/rubbing alcohol is they vent off cleanly when exposed to air and those cleaners are used in surgical and food preparation hygiene standards for cleaning of materials such as steel and plastic surfaces but of course boiling is still seen as an effective cleaning method today too so its really down to how far you really want to go with it imho.
